Keeping your pet safe and close to home is our top priority — and microchipping is the easiest, fastest way to do just that! On October 25, 2022, the City Council updated the rules to make microchipping the new standard for pet identification in Bentonville.

According to Section 6-21 of the City of Bentonville Municipal Code, all dogs and cats over four months old are required to have:

  • a microchip implanted
  • the microchip number registered with Bentonville Animal Services within 30 days
  • a current rabies vaccination with a certificate that does not expire within the next 90 days
